Consequences on the cerebrospinal fluid (liquor)

Consequences of the Atlas on Cerebrospinal Fluid

On this page, we aim to delve into the repercussions of Atlas misalignment on cerebrospinal fluid and the symptoms that may arise. To do this, we will provide some basic anatomical knowledge, intentionally keeping it simple, as our goal is not a scientific dissertation but to facilitate an understanding of the mechanisms at play.

What is cerebrospinal fluid?

cerebrospinal fluid

Cerebrospinal fluid, commonly referred to as CSF or spinal fluid, is a transparent fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. It cushions against shocks, maintains a stable chemical environment, nourishes the brain, and facilitates the removal of metabolic waste.

How is CSF produced?

CSF is produced at a rate of approximately 0.5 liters per day from plasma in arterial blood that reaches the skull primarily through the carotid arteries. After fulfilling its functions, CSF is reabsorbed and returned to venous circulation via the jugular veins. At any given time, the nervous system contains between 60 and 200 ml of fluid, which is replenished 3-4 times per day.

Understanding the cerebrospinal fluid circuit

Understanding "where cerebrospinal fluid comes from" and "where it goes"—in other words, thinking in terms of inflow and outflow—helps us identify the origin of many neurological symptoms considered incurable. Fluids, being incompressible, follow a basic physical law: if the outflow encounters an obstruction, the inflow is also slowed. In other words, if the fluid cannot exit, new fluid cannot enter. When the main vein, the jugular vein, through which CSF is discharged, is stenotic, how can the cerebrospinal fluid flow properly? If the circulation of CSF is hindered, can you imagine the effects this might have on the brain? It seems that few people ask this question.

As often happens, we get lost in irrelevant details, overlooking what is obvious. It should not be surprising that fish in an aquarium get sick or die if the water is never changed; similarly, it should not be surprising when neurological issues such as headaches and many other disorders arise because the brain is forced to "float" in its own waste!

Consequences of altered CSF production or reabsorption

Significant alterations in cerebrospinal fluid production or reabsorption can lead to conditions such as hydrocephalus in children or intracranial hypertension in adults, while less pronounced changes that hinder CSF drainage can have a substantial impact by affecting the pressure balance essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system.

CSF adapts to variations in blood flow and brain mass to maintain constant intracranial pressure and volume, but a deficit in blood flow can directly affect CSF production and its disposal cycle.

Alterations in CSF Flow and Pressure

The misalignment of the Atlas and the resulting postural issues can influence CSF flow and intracranial pressure, potentially affecting various neurological functions.

Studies conducted by Dr. Zamboni and his team provide highly enlightening insights on this topic. However, if these new discoveries were adopted as they deserve, many pharmaceutical therapies would become obsolete, explaining the resistance of conventional medicine to acknowledge their value. Consequently, Zamboni's findings remain confined to a niche of informed individuals willing to educate themselves independently.

Dr. Paolo Zamboni is renowned for his research on Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI), a condition he hypothesized to be closely linked to multiple sclerosis (MS). His most significant discovery involves the observation that altered venous flow from the brain and spinal cord may contribute to MS symptoms. Zamboni identified that many MS patients exhibited narrowing (stenosis) or malformations in the jugular and azygos veins, obstructing normal blood outflow. This phenomenon leads to iron accumulation in brain tissues, causing inflammation and neurological damage.

Possible Effects of an Atlas Misalignment on CSF:

cerebrospinal fluid
  • Compression or restriction of CSF pathways: A misaligned Atlas can compress surrounding soft tissues or narrow the foramen magnum, hindering the free circulation of CSF to the spinal cord. In severe cases, such as Chiari syndrome, the cerebellum may slip into the spinal canal, obstructing CSF circulation.
  • Changes in craniosacral dynamics: The pulsatile flow of CSF can be altered by restrictions at the cranial base. Osteopaths have observed that after Atlantomed treatment, the craniosacral rhythm increases in amplitude, improving flow dynamics.
  • Slower CSF turnover: If one of the jugular veins has a congenital stenosis or is externally compressed due to C1 and C2, CSF recirculation slows, leaving the brain "immersed" in stagnant fluid rich in metabolic waste. It is unsurprising, then, that the brain might cease functioning properly, eventually leading to symptoms that can develop into much more severe conditions.
  • Increased intracranial pressure: Obstructions in CSF flow can cause elevated intracranial pressure, resulting in symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, visual disturbances, and, in severe cases, impaired neurological functions.

Beyond specific individual disorders that may arise, it is crucial to understand that the nervous system cannot function optimally if the fluid that nourishes it does not circulate properly. Considering that your life depends on your nervous system, neglecting it would be highly unwise. Prevention consists of ensuring that the body can operate at its best, rather than waiting for symptoms to appear and then focusing on them. It should now be evident that this is the least effective, painful, and costly approach.

Negative Impacts on the Nervous System

  • Nerve irritation: Altered CSF flow can contribute to nerve root irritation, causing neuropathic pain or abnormal sensations.
  • Reduced nourishment of nervous tissues: Inefficient CSF circulation can compromise the delivery of nutrients to the brain and spinal cord, hindering cellular regeneration.

Symptoms Associated with Altered CSF Flow

The circulation of CSF follows a pulsatile flow synchronized with breathing and heart function.

  • Neurological disorders – multiple sclerosis – Alzheimer’s
  • Chronic fatigue – cognitive difficulties
  • Persistent headaches (often worse when standing or lying down)
  • Abnormal intracranial pressure (hypotension or hypertension)
  • Balance and coordination problems
  • Visual issues, such as blurred or double vision
  • Tinnitus – sensation of ear pressure

Conclusion

Medicine tends to focus on CSF only in its most severe manifestations, while milder symptoms are often attributed to neurological disorders of unknown origin. Greater awareness and integration of recent discoveries could lead to more accurate diagnoses and more effective treatments.

After Atlantomed treatment, several cases have been observed where intracranial pressure and related disorders disappeared. However, it is important to consider that other medical conditions beyond the Atlas position may be present. For example, the jugular vein may exhibit stenosis, as highlighted in Dr. Paolo Zamboni's CCSVI studies, which can be explored further elsewhere. Stories After Atlas Realignment

Several individuals have reported significant improvements following the realignment of the Atlas. Their experiences, documented through video interviews and testimonials, highlight how a simple intervention on a single vertebra can greatly enhance quality of life.

The Right MINDSET

The Right Mindset

Negative Mental Attitude

Why does one person heal after undergoing the same treatment, while another does not?

Mental attitude or mindset plays a fundamental role in the outcome of any healing process.

  • If you are convinced you will get sick, you are very likely to actually fall ill.
  • If you firmly believe in healing, you are very likely to regain your health.

What YOU consider to be reality will, in some way, become REAL.

In practical life, this principle clashes with "counter-intentions" coming from the environment or the people around you, which can hinder the realization of your goals and the materialization of your reality. Inside your being, these external counter-intentions do not exist, so you are capable of making real what you believe should happen, unless you contradict your thought immediately after formulating it.

This dynamic of "knowing you are right" can lead to two extremes: causing disasters or generating events that might appear miraculous.

What Does All This Mean?

Your thoughts activate physical mechanisms that can transform them into reality, either for good or for bad.

The human body can autonomously produce organic substances that promote healing or illness, depending on your mindset. However, traditional medicine tends to ignore these phenomena as they conflict with its dogmas and paradigms (see link below).

Supporting this, there are various interesting experiments, some of which have been scientifically studied by quantum physics and completely challenge the current universal physical laws.

Conventional medicine does not delve into these topics, often out of convenience: the system profits from keeping you sick and unaware of these mechanisms. Doctors often take credit for recoveries that were actually self-induced by the patients themselves, wrongly attributing them to prescribed medications.

If you are firmly convinced that something will benefit you, it probably will. Conversely, if you believe it will harm you, it is highly likely to happen.

The first phenomenon is called the placebo effect, while the second is the nocebo effect. Scientific studies quantify the efficacy of these phenomena at 30% and 50%, respectively. This means that if you are convinced that something will harm you, then there is a 50% chance that this will actually occur.

A negative mindset can sabotage the body's functions, leading in extreme cases to death. There are numerous examples of deaths caused by emotional distress.

A concrete example of the nocebo effect occurred in Zurich in 2012, when an envelope containing white powder broke in a post office branch, sparking panic over a suspected anthrax attack.

As a result, 34 employees were taken to the emergency room and hospitalized in intensive care, showing typical symptoms of poisoning such as sudden headaches, coughing, vomiting, and respiratory irritation.

After conducting the necessary chemical analyses, which unfortunately take time, it was revealed that it was just ordinary flour. This story should help you understand what our minds are capable of.

Positive Attitude

Thinking Positive Is Not Enough

If you now think that having positive thoughts is enough to heal, it is important to correct this belief. Positive thinking alone is not sufficient: you need certainty and complete awareness. You must know with absolute conviction that something will happen—a subtle yet fundamental difference from merely believing.

Certainty operates on a much higher plane than simply believing it to be so.

To better understand, consider this example: Do you BELIEVE in the force of gravity, or do you KNOW it really exists? Do you BELIEVE the sun will rise tomorrow, or do you KNOW with absolute certainty that it will, having observed it every day of your life? Do you see the difference?

If you are certain that being close to a person with the flu will make you sick, it is likely to happen. You will sabotage your immune system to such an extent that you make your expectation real, giving you the chance to say, "See, I knew I would get sick by being near them!". On the other hand, if you KNOW that being near a sick person will have no effect on you, then you will likely stay healthy.

The determination to be right can be so strong that it prevails even over life itself. Think of people who die for an ideal or in the attempt to realize their thoughts.

This phenomenon is evident in mothers: everyone in the house is sick except her! She knows she cannot afford to fall ill because, otherwise, who would care for her family? Similarly, doctors in hospitals, despite being in constant contact with infectious patients, rarely get sick. The same phenomenon is observed in managers who keep businesses running: they cannot afford to fall ill and therefore usually do not. They do not see illness as a valid option, and as a result, it does not occur.

Necessity activates immune defense mechanisms that prevent them from falling ill.

The same principle applies in reverse. If you are convinced that a certain habit will make you sick, it probably will. The phrase smoking kills on cigarette packs is harmful: reading it with every cigarette you light, if the smoker begins to believe in that phrase, they will eventually make it come true. And before dying, they will say, "See, I knew I would get cancer!".

It is undeniable that smoking is harmful to health, but trying to dissuade people from smoking with such strategies risks paradoxically making more people sick.

I would like to share with you two curiosities you may not know. Have you seen those anti-smoking campaigns showing a black lung filled with smoke, compared to a healthy lung? An organ in the state shown in those images does not exist in reality!

No pathologist during an autopsy has ever seen lungs in such a condition. A living lung continuously cleans itself, and any residues found are certainly not comparable to those exaggerated images shown in those misleading anti-smoking campaigns.

So, how are such images obtained? It is quite simple: a DEAD lung is connected to a machine that pumps into it an amount of smoke equivalent to what a smoker inhales over a lifetime.

Smoked Lungs

Do you think this is a real condition? A LIVING lung cleans itself, does not inhale smoke 24/7 without pause, and certainly does not inhale it all at once. If you have doubts about this, I suggest consulting a pathologist and asking if they have ever seen lungs in such a condition during an autopsy.

These images only serve to scare smokers, making them believe they have rotten lungs, even if it is not true. The psychological effect of these images can often be more harmful than smoking itself.

Experiments on Mice

Experiments on Mice

It is commonly accepted that smoking causes cancer. Right? But how was this conclusion reached? Mice were placed in a cage, "smoked" for months, and inevitably died of cancer. The logical deduction, according to the limited scientific method, was that smoking causes cancer.

But let’s analyze what really happens: mice often live in attics and basements, right? If a fire breaks out, escape routes would inevitably be blocked, and death would be certain. For this reason, mice are much more sensitive to smoke than humans. Even a slight smell of smoke makes them flee.

SMOKE = FIRE = DEATH

If you see mice fleeing en masse on the stairs, it could be a sign of a fire or an imminent earthquake. What do you think happens to a mouse if it is smoked for months, 24 hours a day, locked in a cage with no escape route?

CHRONIC PANIC = IMMUNE SYSTEM BREAKDOWN = CANCER = DEATH

For the record, most lab mice, due to their confined conditions, die of cancer. They have a lifespan of only two years compared to five years for a free mouse.

The same experiment was repeated with a species of mouse that lives underground, digging tunnels. In the underground environment, fire is absent, so this type of mouse has no programming that identifies smoke as a threat. The result of the experiment was surprising: even after months of "smoking," none of these underground mice developed cancer.

The reality is a bit different from what you’ve been told, isn’t it?

Returning to Atlas Correction

We have observed this phenomenon for years in people treated with Atlantomed.

Those who approach the treatment with a positive attitude and trust in its benefits tend to achieve tangible results. On the other hand, those who approach it with prejudiced skepticism, motivated solely by a desire to prove its ineffectiveness or confirm preconceived beliefs—such as the idea suggested by their doctor that we are charlatans—rarely experience significant improvements.

This does not mean the result is merely a placebo effect, but it demonstrates how deeply a person’s mindset can influence the outcome, both positively and negatively. This principle extends far beyond this specific context and applies to many other aspects of life.

At the root of it all is always the unconscious desire to prove to oneself and others that they are right, activating mechanisms that transform thought into reality, even when it is at the expense of their health.

So, FIRST, the thought takes shape, and THEN, it transforms the reality of things. It is thought that shapes reality and not the other way around, as many mistakenly believe. This concept has been demonstrated through various quantum physics experiments, including the famous double-slit experiment.

Simply becoming aware of this phenomenon can completely transform your life. If you read books by highly successful people, you will notice that this concept is a fundamental principle and an essential awareness for them.

Admitting you were wrong and changing your mind requires great mental strength, a rare quality.

What is the difference between a rich person and a poor one, between a healthy person and a sick one, between someone who enjoys life and someone who constantly seems to have problems? MINDSET, what you consider to be your reality.

You can blame external factors or other people, but this will not change your situation or your condition. You can complain about not having money, not being healthy, and all the other negative things happening to you: THIS WILL NOT CHANGE YOUR SITUATION. The only thing that can do that is a change in your mindset, starting by stopping negative considerations.

If the placebo effect has an efficacy of 30% and the nocebo effect 50%, it is easy to understand that you are much more likely to fall ill if you think you are sick than to recover if you believe you can heal.

What does this mean? It means your thoughts can influence the outcome by a total of 80%. With 50% in negative and 30% in positive, the difference is really significant. Does that seem small to you? 80% is a huge percentage! For comparison, a drug, to be approved, only needs to demonstrate an efficacy 10% greater than the placebo. And let’s not forget the unfortunately widespread practice of falsifying study results when the drug fails to even reach that modest 10%. Were you aware of this?

As long as you choose to remain trapped in the need to prove to yourself and others that you are right about your negative thoughts, you will only be digging your own grave.

You CAN BE RIGHT, but it would be much healthier to choose to be right about positive things rather than negative ones!

Negative Mindset

Most people who, after the Atlantomed treatment, claim to have gained no benefit tend to share a negative mindset.

As long as your goal remains to prove that a treatment does not work, your chances of recovery will be drastically reduced.

Diseases are the physical manifestation of a negative mental state (Eduard Bach)

Of course, there are exceptions that go beyond mental attitude: technical errors during treatment, conditions where the Atlas cannot be corrected, situations where the Atlas is not the cause of the issue, or cases where the individual’s condition is so compromised that improvement would be impossible, even with a miracle. Excluding these circumstances, the remaining cases often show recurring mindset, which include:

Negative Mindset
  • I’ll never heal – I’m too far gone – I’m hopeless;
  • I’m sick, and there’s no cure, no one can help or heal me;
  • I don’t understand anything; others should take care of my health;
  • I shouldn’t have to do anything or understand anything;
  • I have the right to receive everything for free because of health insurance;
  • I’m convinced the treatment is just a scam to make money; otherwise, it would be free;
  • If it were as effective as they say, everyone would be doing it.

As explained earlier, it is scientifically proven that a negative mindset can block 80% of your chances of healing. Even so, the Atlantomed treatment is capable of producing stable results in over 75% of treated individuals!

Paying Too Much Attention to the Body

Paying Too Much Attention to Discomfort

Another very evident characteristic in people who seem never to improve is paying too much attention to their body, obsessively focusing on the painful part. It is well known that whatever you focus your attention on inevitably grows in importance, while what is ignored gradually loses relevance and fades away.

If you constantly focus on the pain, you will only intensify it.

If you ignore and minimize it, trusting your body and its self-healing power, the pain will often disappear on its own, just as it came.

Many aches and physical issues persist over time, not due to an underlying organic condition but because they are constantly fueled by the unconscious mind and negative thoughts.

Considering all this, it becomes clear that comparing your discomfort or results with those of others makes little sense. Those who approach treatment with a positive attitude are more likely to experience improvement. On the other hand, those who begin with a negative attitude may not achieve the desired results.

If you don’t get the results you expected, that doesn’t mean the thousands of positive testimonials about the Atlantomed method are misleading or that the treatment is ineffective. It could instead depend on your mindset, which only YOU can change.

Before criticizing the treatment, ask yourself what attitude you are taking toward your life and health. We can offer the best possible treatment, but if your attitude is oriented toward failure, the chances of a disappointing result will be high.

We recommend that those who identify with these characteristics refrain from treatment to avoid further disappointment.

Contraindications and special cases

Contraindications to Atlas correction

Simbolo di stop che rappresenta le controindicazioni per una correzione dell'Atlante

Absolute contraindications

  • Severe degenerative changes in the cervical spine (uncovertebral arthrosis, osteophytosis or welding between adjacent vertebral bodies).
  • Epicondylar exostosis or bony deformation of the occipital condyles.
  • Arnold Chiari malformation/syndrome with engagement of the cerebellar tonsils from the foramen magnum into the spinal canal.
  • Hydrocephalus treated with CSF shunt (the shunt runs under the skin of the neck).
  • Stroke/apoplectic attack more recent than 9 months.
  • Severe acute or chronic inflammatory diseases, especially those of autoimmune origin, severe infectious diseases.
  • Diseases causing emaciation, cachexia (tuberculosis and similar), cancer, especially if with osteolytic or osteoblastic metastases.
  • Retinal detachment, recent cataract surgery.
  • Severe arteriosclerosis
  • Cerebral aneurysm

Relative contraindications

  • Instability of the cervical ligaments, especially if, after an accident or trauma, there has been an injury to the joint capsule, the ligaments of the Atlas or the Epistropheus (atlanto-occipital and atlanto-axial instability). Ligament laxity is a relative contraindication, because in this case the Atlas correction can be carried out, but may not be permanent.
  • Severe malformations of the Atlas in the posterior arch or in the incomplete or missing transverse processes, or malformations of the occipito-cervical hinge.
  • Subcutaneous implants: ear implants and prostheses, pacemaker implants, vagal stimulator implants (VNS).
  • Whiplash injury more recent than 2 months.
  • Very poor general health: lack of resources for the regeneration phase.
  • Taking oral anticoagulant or dicumarol drugs such as Coumadin and Sintrom (excluding aspirin): these are the drugs used for long-term prevention of embolism in cases of cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, valvulopathy, implantation of mechanical valve prostheses, dilated heart disease, previous deep vein thrombosis.
  • In the case of pregnancy, correction of the Atlas should only be carried out if the mother suffers from considerable complaints due to misalignment of the Atlas, which would otherwise force her to take regular medication.

For related contraindications, do not hesitate to contact an Atlantomed specialist in order to assess a possible individual solution.

Particular cases

There are some cases in which realigning the Atlas is a particularly difficult operation and it is necessary to vary the normal course of treatment, for example:

Extreme cervical tension

Armatura medioevale che rappresenta la muscolatura cervicale estremamente contratta
  • If the muscles of the nape of the neck are excessively tense, before proceeding with the actual treatment, it is necessary to carry out one or two sessions of intensive massage (preparatory session) using the dedicated AtlantoVib device, which induces very deep muscle relaxation, capable of bringing considerable benefits. When the neck muscles are sufficiently relaxed, it is possible to proceed with the correction of the Atlas misalignment.

Excessive adipose tissue

Collo taurino
  • In the case of an overabundance of fatty tissue or highly developed neck muscles with extreme sporting activities, the treatment will be particularly problematic, especially because of the difficulty in determining the precise position of the Atlas.

Severe depression

Donna con depressione
  • The treatment is not recommended in the case of severe depression, associated with long-term use of psychotropic drugs, or in the presence of very negative moods. After the treatment the body needs resources to regenerate itself and to eliminate the posture compensations it had put in place in order to counterbalance the misalignment of the Atlas.

Depressed people, who often lack sufficient resources, may experience negative reactions after treatment for a much longer period of time than normal before any improvement is perceived. If the depression is only the result of constant pain due to the after-effects of whiplash, or very frequent migraine attacks, then the Atlantomed treatment can bring great benefits.

Surgical cases and fractures

Intervertebral disc replacement surgery, discectomy, arthrodesis or laminectomy is not a contraindication to treatment. The operation must of course have already healed completely.

Blocking the vertebrae with plates or bars does however allow the Atlas correction to be carried out. X-rays are necessary to check the exact position of the plates and screws, so as to cautiously avoid pressing exactly on them during the massage.

Apart from the correction of the first vertebra, we have found that treating the operated area with the AtlantoVib device can bring great benefits. Vibroresonance deeply dissolves the hardening that inevitably occurs, makes the scars softer, increases vascularisation and increases the mobility of the remaining segments of the spine.

It is recommended that the Atlas correction session be preceded by a preparatory session.

People who have undergone such surgery are often refused manual treatments, the therapist having an unfounded fear of doing damage.

Cases of vertebral fracture, including Atlas fracture, if perfectly healed, can be successfully treated with Atlantomed, after the necessary investigations and with the necessary precautions. After a fracture of the Atlas or epistropheus, in order to proceed, we require the OK of the treating doctor and a CT scan showing complete healing of the fractured segment.

Fusion or fixation of C0, C1 and C2, as you can easily guess, precludes correction of the vertebrae in question. It is desirable that the vertebrae have been fixed in alignment. Even if a correction is not feasible, it is possible to benefit from loosening the surrounding muscles with an AtlantoVib massage session.

If you have any doubts, do not hesitate to contact an Atlantomed specialist in order to assess a possible individual solution.

Effectiveness of Atlas realignment

Effectiveness of Atlas Realignment

Study on the Effectiveness of Atlas Realignment

The Atlantomed method is based on a specific technique of vibro-pressure applied to the cervical area, aiming to correct the position of the Atlas vertebra. To statistically evaluate the evolution of symptoms after treatment, data from 504 patients who underwent Atlas correction at two Atlantomed centers in Switzerland and Sweden were analyzed.

The study was conducted using a standard questionnaire, filled out directly by the patients before and after the treatment, as well as during a follow-up session.

The questionnaire included 18 categories of symptoms (e.g., neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, knee pain, headaches, insomnia, and migraines). Frequency and intensity of symptoms were assessed using a 7-point scale, without verbal definitions for each level.

The collected data were statistically analyzed and evaluated by the INKAM scientific institute (Institute for Customer Satisfaction Analysis and Marketing, Prof. Dr. Theis GmbH, Marburg, Germany).

A total of 504 individuals participated in the study, including 297 women and 207 men, aged between 16 and 84 years. The precision of the results analysis is +/- 4.45% (confidence level of 95.5%).

Study Results

  • Among the treated individuals, only a small number reported suffering from just one or two symptoms, while the majority reported experiencing 10 or more symptoms.
  • One month after the treatment, 74% reported complete resolution of at least one symptom.
  • Patients suffering from migraines experienced the most significant results: one month after the Atlas correction, 39% of the study participants were completely free of migraines, while an additional 43% reported a significant reduction in the frequency and/or intensity of their pain.
  • More than 85% of participants reported being free of their symptoms or experiencing a reduction in the frequency and/or intensity of issues such as neck pain, headaches, and muscle pain one month after the Atlantomed treatment.
  • At least 7 out of 10 participants reported significant improvements, including complete resolution or a reduction in the frequency and/or intensity of the following issues: shoulder pain, vertigo, migraines, back pain, drowsiness, hip pain, insomnia, tinnitus, depression, and gastrointestinal issues.

Man jumping with joy over the results of the Atlas correction

Some Preliminary Remarks

Before analyzing the report results, it is essential to consider a few points to better understand it and properly evaluate the outcomes.

Atlas correction IS NOT a surgical intervention and DOES NOT involve taking medication. Instead, it is a vibro-pressure massage with resonance, specifically targeted at the base of the skull. This treatment is completely safe and poses no risk of harm. No chiropractic cervical manipulations (thrust) are performed, as these may carry certain risks.

A frequently mentioned point in the comments is a misunderstanding of the specific goal of the treatment. Some people write that we failed to identify their problem because they expected a diagnosis, thinking they were seeing yet another doctor or physiotherapist. They failed to understand that Atlantomed's primary goal is Atlas correction. This misunderstanding is comparable to a customer entering a vegetarian restaurant expecting to order a steak and then leaving a negative review because they couldn't find one.

Some have rated us one star, complaining in their comments that the benefits lasted only 6/12/24 months. However, they curiously have no complaints about the pills they regularly take, which only provide relief for a few hours.

Health is not everything, but without health, everything is nothing. Those in good health are rich without knowing it.

The Atlantomed website provides a wealth of essential information for those who wish to deepen their understanding of health. It is highly recommended to carefully read the 40 main pages of the site before deciding to undergo the treatment, to avoid unrealistic expectations.

When it comes to conditions like migraines or other chronic health issues, conventional medicine is forgiven for failing to cure 100% of treated cases, even when the patient has taken medication continuously for decades. Meanwhile, in our case, if symptoms do not disappear immediately after the first treatment, all the blame falls on us. Have you ever calculated how much money you have spent on medications throughout your life? And yet, some people dare to complain about the cost of our treatment, even though it is negligible compared to the cost of medications. Perhaps they do not consider that prescription drugs, indirectly, cost them dearly through taxes.

The bitterest pill to swallow is undoubtedly the realization of never having truly healed with traditional treatments.

Have you ever met someone who can say they were truly cured of their migraine by taking medication? Oh, I forgot, according to orthodox medicine, migraines are considered an incurable neurological condition. I invite you to compare that 0% of migraines resolved with medication to the percentage of cases resolved with Atlantomed, as shown on this page. We apologize for not being able to help 100% of the people who turn to us. But how do you explain that people considered incurable by traditional medicine have, strangely enough, been cured after Atlantomed treatment?

The cost of our treatment is comparable to that of two boxes of migraine medication, but with the advantage of producing no side effects. Yet, some shout scandal! Too expensive! They claim we stole their money! Their lifelong ailments, for which no treatment has ever worked, imagine this: they didn't even disappear with our SINGLE treatment! What a scandal!

Not Attending the Second Appointment

We write this specifically for those who do not attend the second session: why do you think a second treatment session is scheduled? Perhaps to perfect the work of the first? In particularly complex cases, 3-4 sessions may even be required. However, it often happens that those in the worst conditions give up after the first session, disappearing without returning, and then blaming us for the lack of results.

What would you think of a patient who goes to the hospital for a local surgical procedure, gets up in the middle of the operation, leaves, and then blames the surgeon for the negative outcome? Well, many of those who express particularly negative opinions have not attended the second session, leaving the work unfinished and not allowing us to complete it. I understand that another failure can be frustrating, but if you have trusted your doctors for years without being cured, perhaps you could give us the time to finish our work before declaring it ineffective.

Another sensitive point: on our website, we repeatedly explain why cervical manipulations are not recommended. However, despite our recommendations, some individuals choose to return to their trusted therapist for new manipulations after an Atlantomed session. This behavior compromises the work done and risks nullifying the results achieved. These same individuals then blame us for any failures or worsening conditions.

It is natural to ask: if their therapist is so skilled, why did they decide to travel to Switzerland to be treated by us? Why hasn’t their trusted therapist, who may have been treating them for years, managed to fix their issues? If they chose Atlantomed, it’s evident that they hadn’t achieved the desired results so far. And if they didn’t achieve them before, why would they achieve them by continuing with the same approach? If we explicitly advise against undergoing new cervical manipulations after the Atlas correction, don’t you think there’s a valid reason for this? And if, despite our recommendations, the person decides to do it anyway, how can they then complain about the negative consequences, knowing they were warned in advance?

If someone chooses to undergo manipulations anyway, it means they didn’t understand anything we explained, or perhaps they didn’t even bother to read the information we provided. In that case, they need to take responsibility for their decisions and avoid complaining about unsatisfactory results or worsening conditions.

Absolutely Truthful Results

And to conclude, if anyone among those who came to us without benefiting wants to insinuate that the treatment doesn’t work or that we "embellish" the report with results by removing inconvenient evaluations, to guarantee our absolute seriousness and transparency, we challenge them to find their own evaluation in the report. Once the PDF is downloaded, using the search function, they will easily be able to locate their comment. For obvious privacy reasons, we don’t show full email addresses or last names, but the partial information visible, combined with the date and time of the evaluation, should be enough to identify their review, including negative ones. In light of this transparency, it would be interesting to know what arguments remain for the detractors trying to discredit us. For example, those who insinuate that the reviews or interviews are fake simply because they didn’t achieve the desired result in their case. These individuals will likely cling to the 25% of cases that didn’t benefit, claiming that the glass three-quarters full appears empty to them. (The report is updated every 2-3 months).

We work with passion and enthusiasm to improve the health of the people who come to us, putting all our expertise at their disposal and ensuring the utmost commitment to our work. We gladly accept any criticism, but only if it is constructive and backed by solid arguments.

After expressing these considerations, which are necessary to properly evaluate the 25% of negative results, we are proud to share the satisfaction of the remaining 75% who, thanks to our treatment, have managed to free themselves from years of painful symptoms. This success is particularly significant when considering that often all previous attempts had failed, definitively disproving those who claim that certain disorders cannot be cured.

Continuous Study 2025

In 2025, an automated continuous study will be launched, based on standardized scientific forms, targeting all treated individuals. The study will evaluate the results of the Atlantomed treatment after 2 months, with additional follow-ups scheduled at 6 months and 1 year for various conditions. This approach will help identify, for example, which type of headache responds most effectively to the treatment.

The form currently completed before the treatment and during the follow-up session will be transformed into a more detailed and structured electronic version. It will be sent via email along with the appointment reminder, allowing patients to complete it comfortably from home.

Spiral CT /Cone beam CT of the Atlas

Tomography of the Atlas Vertebra

Spiral CT tomography device

3D Spiral CT – Cone Beam CT – MRI

Since ancient times, humans have sought methods to observe the inside of the human body to understand its functioning and identify potential dysfunctions without resorting to invasive procedures. Today, technological advancements provide us with a wide range of diagnostic imaging tools, each with specific characteristics, limitations, advantages, and disadvantages. The choice of the most suitable diagnostic method depends on what needs to be visualized. Some techniques are better suited for certain types of analyses than others. As this is an important health-related topic, yet often confusing for those outside the field, we believe it is important to provide a clear and useful overview to navigate the various available options and avoid constantly confusing one exam with another.

Absence of Atlas Misalignment in Medical Reports

It may seem paradoxical, but expecting a doctor or radiologist to discuss Atlas misalignment is like assuming a house painter is also an expert on Picasso’s works. While both work in the field of painting, they operate in completely different domains. Sure, you might find a painter who, besides painting walls, is a passionate Picasso enthusiast, but in most cases, this is unlikely. This simple analogy aims to help you understand that a radiologist does not look for vertebral misalignments. This concept needs to be crystal clear.

Do not expect to find references to your Atlas misalignment in radiological reports. Only recently, and only after the development of a method and equipment capable of effectively and stably correcting the first cervical vertebra, has it been possible to retrospectively identify the Atlas as a potential cause of certain disorders. In medical literature, an Atlas misalignment is not yet considered a pathological condition, which is why doctors and radiologists generally do not conduct investigations in this direction. Consequently, even when Atlas misalignment is present and clearly visible, it is rarely identified or included in a radiological report.

Evolution of Technology and Specialized Expertise

If you want to explore and adopt new technology, it makes no sense to rely on someone who still uses outdated methods, regardless of their experience or training. For example, you cannot expect a gasoline car driver to provide reliable insights into what it’s like to drive an electric Tesla.

A Common Misconception About Medical Knowledge

It is a common misconception to think that a doctor must always be informed about every new development in medicine simply because they work in the healthcare sector. Medicine is constantly evolving, and your doctor may not necessarily be up-to-date on the latest discoveries, such as Atlas misalignment and its correction.

Relying on Specialists With Specific Expertise

Therefore, if you want reliable and in-depth information about the durable correction of the Atlas, you cannot and should not rely on your trusted doctor or therapist, as they are unlikely to have specific experience in this field. Their knowledge may be limited or inaccurate. Understanding this reality is essential for making informed decisions about how to proceed and whose expertise to trust.

The universal rule, valid in any field, is that when it comes to something revolutionary and unprecedented, only its creator has a complete understanding of what it is and how it truly works. Subsequently, this knowledge is gradually passed on to those within their circle. Everyone else, even if they operate in the same sector, remains excluded and can only speculate or hypothesize, often inaccurately or incorrectly.

In this context, Atlantomed stands as a reference point for effectively addressing upper cervical misalignment. If you want to achieve results that only Atlantomed can provide, it is essential to consult a professional who practices the Atlantomed method.

REMEMBER: Those who attempt to imitate rarely achieve results comparable to the original.

Diagnostic Methods Through Imaging

X-ray

Cervical and intraoral X-ray

The X-ray (RX) was the first imaging method developed to examine the inside of the human body. It works as follows: an X-ray tube emits radiation that passes through the body and is then captured by a sensor positioned on the opposite side.

Due to their higher density, bones absorb more X-rays than soft tissues. This causes bones to appear white on the X-ray image, as they block more rays. In contrast, soft tissues, which allow more X-rays to pass through, appear darker on the final image.

What are X-rays? They are electromagnetic waves, similar to sunlight but with a much higher frequency. The higher the frequency, the greater the penetrating power of the electromagnetic waves. While sunlight can be blocked by a simple sheet of paper or the clothes we wear, X-rays can pass through the body, allowing its internal structures to be visualized.

Thanks to technological advancements and increased sensor sensitivity, very low doses of X-rays are now sufficient to produce a clear image.

An X-ray can only depict a subject in two dimensions. Therefore, an X-ray image cannot be used to evaluate the three-dimensional spatial relationship between the Atlas and the skull bone. Attempting to analyze Atlas misalignment in three spatial planes based on a two-dimensional X-ray demonstrates a lack of basic knowledge and an inadequate understanding of the subject.

A normal X-ray CANNOT adequately highlight Atlas misalignment.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Cervical magnetic resonance imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), also known as magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) or simply RM, works on a completely different principle than X-rays and does not use radiation.

The term "tomography" simply means "layered imaging". While RMT includes the word tomography, magnetic resonance tomography should not be confused with computed tomography (CT).

The two techniques are fundamentally different, as distinct as day and night.

How does MRI work? In simple terms, during Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), the body is exposed to a powerful rotating magnetic field. The water molecules contained in soft tissues are induced to vibrate at their specific resonance frequency, aligning themselves like magnets.

When the magnetic impulse stops, depending on the type of tissue and its specific water content, the molecules return to their initial state at different rates, allowing the differentiation of body tissues in the acquired image. The image acquisition occurs layer by layer and takes a relatively long time, up to 30-40 minutes, depending on the area to be scanned.

While an X-ray or Computed Tomography (CT) provides an excellent view of bones at the expense of other tissues, an MRI allows better visualization of soft tissues rather than bones. An MRI, like an X-ray, only provides a two-dimensional view of the scanned area. These two factors make MRI unsuitable for correctly identifying the position of the Atlas in three spatial planes. The major advantage of MRI is that it produces images without using harmful ionizing radiation, but unfortunately, it only offers a partial view of what is relevant to us.

An MRI does NOT allow for a proper evaluation of Atlas misalignment.

Computed Tomography – 3D Spiral CT

Cervical CT scan

In simple terms, a Computed Tomography or CT, is an imaging technique that captures hundreds of "X-rays" from multiple perspectives, which are then assembled into a single three-dimensional image using dedicated software. Modern machines use spiral technology, where the X-ray tube and the opposing sensor rotate continuously around the patient while the table on which they lie moves slowly. Early scanners were called Axial Computed Tomography (ACT) because they only allowed image acquisition on a single axis.

The downside of this type of exam is the large amount of radiation (X-rays) to which one is exposed. The radiation from a CT scan of the skull is equivalent to 250 chest X-rays or 2000 microsieverts.

Spiral CT is particularly suitable for showing Atlas misalignment.

CBCT – Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Cervical CT scan

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), known as Cone Beam CT, is primarily used in orthodontics. The main advantage of CBCT compared to a standard CT is undoubtedly the lower amount of radiation to which one is exposed.

Depending on the model of the scanner used, the absorbed radiation dose varies from 20 microsieverts in the latest-generation devices to 120-160 microsieverts in older devices. In the best-case scenario, the radiation is 100 times lower than that of a Spiral CT.

In terms of image quality, Spiral CT and Cone Beam CT are comparable, but Cone Beam CT has the advantage of producing fewer artifacts.

However, the lower intensity of the emitted radiation results in a reduced ability to distinguish bones from soft tissues, a limitation that can make it challenging to accurately visualize the Atlas. The Cone Beam CT, widely used in dentistry, is optimized to capture images of the jaw, which is covered by a thin layer of tissue, whereas the Atlas is located much deeper. This limitation can be overcome by increasing the radiation dose. Despite this, the absorbed radiation dose remains significantly lower compared to a spiral CT, making the CBCT a safer option in terms of radiation exposure.

The Cone Beam CT scan is performed in an upright position, without needing to lie down in a tube, a feature particularly appreciated by individuals suffering from claustrophobia. Another advantage is that the cervical vertebrae are under load, avoiding the flattening of the physiological curve of the spine, which inevitably occurs when lying down. This way, it is possible to determine not only vertebral alignment but also the presence of a possible cervical straightening.

Another factor to consider is the following: in dentistry, small-sized sensors, typically around 7 cm, are used. However, these dimensions are insufficient to capture the entire contour of the skull. To obtain adequate images, a sensor of at least 15 cm is required. As explained below, if the entire circumference of the skull is not captured, the images may become unusable for our purposes.

Therefore:

  • A sensor larger than 15 cm is required.
  • The radiation dose must be increased to better differentiate tissues.

It is undeniably more challenging to find a center properly equipped to perform a Cone Beam CT scan compared to one with a spiral CT scanner, as the latter is much more common. However, the effort required to locate the right center is certainly justified when it comes to protecting your health.

The Cone Beam is currently the best choice for properly examining the position of the Atlas.
Cone Beam of the jaw

An additional advantage of a well-performed Cone Beam CT scan is the ability to visualize the roots of the teeth and the surrounding bone with a precision impossible to achieve with conventional or panoramic X-rays.

In two-dimensional images, the multiple roots of molar teeth often overlap, obscuring one another. With a CBCT, however, your dentist will be able to identify hidden infections that would otherwise remain undetected.

Oral cavity problems tend to increase with age and can cause serious chronic health issues. Take advantage of this opportunity, especially if you already need to undergo a CBCT!

A CT Scan Should Only Be Performed in Specific Circumstances

A CT scan does not provide information about muscle tension or joint functionality. For this reason, regardless of the availability of a CT scan, the individual must still be manually and expertly evaluated by an Atlantomed specialist.

The CT scan should be considered as a support for complex cases rather than a first-line investigation. You will understand that it is neither logical nor effective to undergo a CT scan on your own initiative in the hope of avoiding a trip. You may have a relatively well-aligned Atlas, but cervical musculature so contracted and dysfunctional that a treatment with AtlantoVib would still be necessary and beneficial. In the Atlantomed approach, unlike conventional medicine, the simplest, most sensible, and least invasive path is prioritized, which proves effective in 90% of cases. Only in the remaining 10% are more complex solutions resorted to when necessary. This approach minimizes unnecessary exams and treatments.

The rotation of the Atlas or Axis is only one of the factors assessed as an indication for treatment. Therefore, you will understand that it makes no sense to expose yourself to radiation without first being carefully examined by an Atlas specialist. In most cases, a CT scan is not needed and should only be considered at later stages, if strictly necessary. If this exam has already been conducted in the past, it is important for the therapist to analyze it before the session. For this, volumetric CT data is required, not just the medical report.

How to Properly Perform a CT Scan to Visualize Atlas Misalignment

Spiral CT of the skull and cervical with Atlas and Axis

To properly evaluate the upper cervical region, it is necessary to acquire images of the correct anatomical area. The ideal portion to visualize should include the lower third of the skull and extend to the C5-C6 vertebrae, provided the sensor size allows it.

It is not necessary to irradiate the entire skull upward, nor to extend the scan too far down the cervical spine. Irradiating a larger anatomical portion than needed is not only unnecessary for the study’s purpose but also exposes the body to unwarranted radiation. Scanning below C5-C6 would unnecessarily irradiate the thyroid, an organ particularly sensitive to radiation.

It is crucial that the entire circumference of the skull is visible in the images. Missing any part, whether frontal (including the teeth), posterior, or lateral, can deprive the specialist of essential references for an adequate evaluation, potentially rendering the images unusable. Proper image acquisition is therefore essential for accurate assessment.

How to Properly Evaluate a CT Scan?

There are certain circumstances that require a CT scan evaluation by an Atlas specialist, perhaps because a scan was done previously, a new one was performed after unsuccessful treatment, or in special cases where malformations or contraindications are present.

Evaluating vertebral alignment via a CT scan begins with reconstructing the volumetric data into a 3D image. This allows the skull to be observed and analyzed from different angles, eliminating sections that might obscure relevant details. This requires the appropriate software, proper knowledge, a clear understanding of what to look for, and focus. Therefore, you will understand that it is absolutely useless to show us a single image extracted from your CD, as often happens, regardless of what that image may be! Without the listed elements, the analysis becomes a pointless and misleading exercise. If we do not receive the file with the data but only individual images, we cannot derive anything from it!

To perform 3D reconstruction and adequately evaluate the cervical region, all volumetric CT data is required, that is, the folder containing the images in DICOM format, approximately 100-500MB, found on the CD. All other files are superfluous and should not be sent. The folder in question is usually named DICOM but could have a different name assigned by the radiologist. If the folder is less than 50MB, you are NOT sending the CORRECT one! As mentioned earlier, it is useless to send X-rays, MRI scans, medical or radiological reports unless explicitly requested for specific reasons. If you have read and understood what has been explained and wish to send us your CT images, the easiest, fastest, and most effective way is to send only the folder containing the volumetric data using the wetransfer.com service.

How Can I Tell If My Atlas Is Misaligned?

The radiologist's CD includes a basic utility program that allows you to view the images layer by layer in 2D across three different planes. It may seem obvious to identify an Atlas misalignment, but what you think you see in 2D mode is only accurate under very specific conditions.

To confirm a misalignment in 2D visualization, some preliminary adjustments are necessary. It is impossible to correctly assess the position of the Atlas in relation to the skull if the latter is not first aligned on its three planes. During a scan, the head is rarely in a perfectly orthogonal position, an aspect that is often overlooked but must be considered and corrected before analyzing the images, especially in 2D visualization. The question to ask is: what is misaligned relative to what? If, from the start, the entire head appears unaligned and not orthogonal in the scan you are observing, any internal structure you examine will be similarly affected. Furthermore, if the CT scan lacks the complete contour of the skull, properly aligning the image becomes impossible, and what you believe you are seeing may not correspond to reality. In other words, without stable references to verify whether the entire head is tilted or not, how can you expect to understand what is misaligned internally? Yet, many make diagnoses in this absurd manner, without truly understanding what they are observing. There are also other significant challenges to consider, but these are not elaborated here for brevity.

These adjustments are systematically ignored, and if the CT scans are additionally done "poorly," as often happens, they become impossible to apply! Looking at a single layer image from a CT scan, without first ensuring that the skull has been accurately aligned on its axes, renders any analysis meaningless.

With 3D reconstruction of the images, it is possible to overcome some deficiencies in the original acquisition, making the evaluation of misalignments much easier and more straightforward. However, it remains necessary to rotate the 3D image of the skull multiple times across various axes to observe the details useful for assessing misalignment.

IMPORTANT: as mentioned at the beginning and reiterated here to emphasize its importance, a radiologist is trained to identify specific structural alterations and defined pathologies, but Atlas misalignment is not among the issues that are commonly looked for. Consequently, it is unlikely that a radiologist can provide an accurate evaluation of this aspect. It is very rare to find indications of vertebral misalignments in radiological reports, and even when they are present, they may be imprecise or incorrect. We emphasize this point because many people believe their spine is perfectly aligned simply because nothing specific is mentioned in the report. The phrase "the doctor said everything is fine" is something we hear often, but unfortunately, it may not reflect reality. For this reason, we independently examine and evaluate the CT images, regardless of the reports. We are committed to analyzing the images in detail and sharing with you everything we find, including any anomalies or misalignments that may have been overlooked in a standard radiological evaluation.

Effects on the Axis and Other Cervical Vertebrae

Spiral CT Atlas and Axis before and after Atlas realignment

BEFORE

AFTER ATLANTOMED

This three-dimensional reconstruction, obtained using a spiral CT scan, provides a detailed view of the upper cervical vertebrae, observed from behind, both before and after the correction of the Atlas vertebra using the Atlantomed vibro-resonance technique.

The post-treatment image clearly shows a significant improvement in the alignment of the first Atlas vertebra relative to the occiput and the second cervical vertebra (Axis). This new balance translates into a more natural and symmetrical arrangement of the upper cervical structures.

Specifically, the Axis odontoid process appears noticeably more centered in its articulation with the Atlas, improving the distribution of mechanical forces throughout the cervical region. Additionally, the skull, which before treatment appeared tilted to the right, has regained a more balanced position, indicating a restoration of structural harmony between the skull and the spine.

Conclusions

Once the differences between various imaging diagnostic methods are understood, it is essential to make some important considerations: ionizing radiation, such as X-rays, is not beneficial to health and should be used sparingly, only when absolutely necessary and when the risk-benefit ratio clearly favors the benefit.

Exposure to radiation increases the risk of developing cancers and leukemias. For this reason, today in many contexts, MRI is preferred over CT scans, provided the clinical circumstances allow. However, as extensively explained earlier, MRI is not suitable for evaluating the Atlas.

Avoid unnecessary CT scans and radiation exposure lightly!

If manual evaluation of the vertebrae proves insufficient, and a CT scan allows for a targeted and effective correction resulting in the disappearance of symptoms, then the radiological examination is justified.

However, it would not be justified if the same result could have been achieved solely through the manual examination performed by an Atlantomed specialist. This means that the correct approach is to first visit an Atlantomed Center to determine the best course of action together. If, out of convenience or to avoid travel, you decide to have a CT scan performed in advance, be aware that you are not acting responsibly to preserve your long-term health. On the other hand, if you already have this test done previously, it is advisable to bring it with you or send it in advance. We refer exclusively to spiral CT or Cone Beam CT (CBCT), not MRI. If you do not understand the difference, we invite you to reread the explanations carefully.

Many people undergo CT scans with a certain nonchalance, almost as if it were a routine action, without considering the potential long-term consequences of radiation exposure. Often, the attending radiologist does not have the time or opportunity to provide adequate information at the time of the exam. For this reason, we have explored the topic in detail, so you can make an informed and sensible decision.

A preliminary CT scan is NOT required for Atlas correction treatment. Only in specific cases, if the Atlantomed specialist encounters difficulty determining the Atlas position through manual examination, can it be evaluated together how to proceed.

Important Notice

It is important to clarify that the Atlantomed specialist examines the images exclusively to evaluate the position of the vertebrae to determine how to proceed with the correction. This is not a medical diagnosis and should not be interpreted as such. Atlas misalignment is not a disease.

If you seek a diagnosis of the pathological condition of your spine or the state of your dental roots, we recommend consulting a competent radiologist or dentist.

It is not our role to receive your MRI or medical reports to provide a diagnosis. Atlantomed is NOT a medical treatment, but a purely mechanical treatment; for this reason, the Atlas specialist does not intend to replace your trusted physician in any way.
